Heirloom Fabrics??

Well, we stupidly gave away boxes of vintage material a few years ago do now we are looking for vintage or vintage-looking fabric for doll clothes. Has anyone purchased vintage fabrics on-line? If so, where and were you happy with the quality?

Kim, it's not online, but Jo-Ann Fabrics has a line called "Granny's Feedsack" from the 1930s I've also seen reproduction fabrics in other fabric stores from the 1920s and 1930s. All of them are a pretty small prints/designs, so they're great for using with dolls. Granny's Feedsack is an odd texture (loose weave) and a little hard to sew with, but it's really cute material! I work at a fabric store so can definitely answer your questions. There are a line of vintage 30s type prints out there called "Aunt Grace" and there are all sorts of others coming out as well. There are also lots of civil war vintage fabrics as well - we sell lines from Moda such as the Brackman/Thompson (my neighbor!), Kansas Troubles, etc. I think we may have some of these patterns on our website as well - www.sarahsfabrics.com. They have fabrics like dotted swiss with embroidered, not flocked, dots. Also, they have baby cord, baby checks, etc. that are a good scale for the dolls. Happy sewing!
